after studying the sculptures of claes oldenburg (large, public monuments, "spoonbridge and cherry") and the ceramic works of marilyn levine (totally realistic interpretations of leather objects) the students in introduction to 3d art "started cookin' "!

based on their favorite food item, they constructed a sculpture from clay, bisque-fired it, and added color with acrylic paints.  to convince viewers of its realistic qualities, found objects were added!
